Amazing Photo Discovery

Air Force One chases Cary GrantAir Force One terrorizes citizen
in "publicity" photo-shoot.

In a statement yesterday, the White House said it would not release any pictures from last week's Presidential jet fly-over of the New York City area. The official publicity photos are "Classified."

We obtained this photograph from tourist Ada Mae Turnipseed as she raced ahead of citizen Cary Grant across a rare patch of New York City farmland. Air Force One roared overhead, perilously close. When asked about how it felt to be buzzed by a 747 on a joyride, Ms. Turnipseed replied, with wide-eyed candor, "Well, I ain't never seen nothin' like this back home in Diviton Corners!"

With apologies to: Alfred Hitchcock, Cary Grant, North By Northwest.

I read about the plane scare, it was a dreadful blunder.

Another day another blunder! I can only wonder what new thoughtless and frightening event will happen tomorrow! At least today the White House agreed to release the pictures, which surprises me. [I didn't think there really were any pictures!! LOL Just a $300K+ joyride in a big airplane.] Anyhow don't get me started on wasteful spending! LOL Thanks for visiting and commenting. I bet our screwed up American politics sure look silly to the rest of the world!

I cant believe the hype over this. Anyone with any sense can tell the difference between a US presidential and a civilian airliner.

But I love your version SR, that last line sort of took me back to "Green Fried Tomatoes" and Zipsy.

AV, thanks for your comment! I think the New Yorkers on the ground as the plane flew low over Ground Zero had flashback to the day the airplanes destroyed the Twin Towers. That trauma is still raw with the survivors and the families of the victims. Their reaction can't be helped except by time and spiritual and medical intervention.

And of course Americans of all persuasions take a dim view of someone invading their country. Who knew the fighter jet was taking pictures or ready to shoot down some rogue jet? Unless you see a plane clearly the markings are not always clear to an untrained observer on the ground.

And everyone else was outraged over two things: 1] the high cost of the joyride [close to $400K] not a smart expenditure in a free-falling economy and 2] the wider implications of any airliner penetrating the so-called security zone around a well fortified city. They thought it might mean something extremely sinister.

It's an awful fact of life, but people all over the country did get very upset. They've been placated somewhat -- some guy is taking responsibility and has been fired -- but the money has been spent and the feelings of helpless terror were real.

Life in America is very different than it was even a year ago, but it's changing so rapidly on a day-to-day basis, I can't fault the New Yorkers for their reaction. I'm just glad it fizzled, no one was hurt, and someone was sacrificed for such a blunder. [Who knows who really ordered the photo-shoot. I maintain it was just a joyride, and not a real photo shoot. It took almost a week to show the pictures and then they released ONE photo and it looked Photoshopped!!]

Heh, don't get me started, though! I'm glad you liked the picture, which I found online and got a kick out of so I posted it here. I don't know who made it. I will give them credit when I do find out. :D
