"Under the Greenwood Tree"My friend sent me this picture from a recent trip to the Oregon Coast and it made me think of Shakespeare's rollicking little ditty from As You Like It.
Under the greenwood tree
Who loves to lie with me,
And tune his merry note
Unto the sweet bird's throat --
Come hither, come hither, come hither!
Here shall he see
No enemy
But winter and rough weather.
Who doth ambition shun
And loves to live i' the sun,
Seeking the food he eats
And pleased with what he gets—
Come hither, come hither, come hither!
Here shall he see
No enemy
But winter and rough weather.
~William Shakespeare
Let's hope each and every one of us has a perfect week ahead to lie about under our favorite tree and listen to the birds.
Ah, that's the life for me!

That is a beautiful photo, I miss the Oregon coast so very much, maybe it's time for a short vacation.
Also As You Like It is one of my favorites, perfect with the photo.

PS, hope it's not as windy on your side of the Cascades as it is here today.
Hi SQ!! Yes, it's a bit windy here. But we don't have anything like Eastern Washington! Our fir trees are dancing but it's only blowing in the teens, with gusting maybe to 21 or so. I know you get it stronger. I love it -- if I'm bundled up enough! Makes the air so fresh. I do fear for my fuchsias when the temps get below 40 and the wind picks up over about 12 or 15 mph. This has not been much of a spring. More like the winter that never ended.
I'm glad you liked the tree photo and the Shakespeare. I miss the coast, too. Definitely time for a trip down to Florence with stops at Astoria and Tillamook. LOL Magical names, delightful places!
Beautiful! Thank you for reminding me of home.
Thanks R for stopping by! I love all our Western states, especially Washington and Oregon. Blessed with terrain that ranges from the wild Pacific to the rugged Cascades to the high deserts -- we've got it all! How lucky can we be? :)
