Misty and her toys
This is a photo of Misty, my niece's cat. Misty loves her striped washcloth, her very own cat-sized towel. She will carry it around the house as she sees fit, puts it down where she pleases and works it over as long as she is interested.
Her favorite place to touch and pet this washcloth with her soft de-clawed mitts is in the kitchen while stretched out on the striped rug. (Misty has an affinity for stripes.) She also loves the kitchen cabinet, which you can see along the bottom edge of the photograph. She touches the smooth wood frequently while mauling her cloth.
But her favorite toy is her woven blue sun-hat, a corner of which can be seen flattened beneath her. She loves to play with this hat and fiercely guards it from her brothers when they come too close to it. She will often move it because one or the other of them has discovered the hat's current hiding place. That's when Misty usually drags it to the kitchen to work it over.
I was lucky to get this shot of her, before she thought her privacy with her toys was about to be violated. I've never known a pet quite like Misty before, as all our cats were quite conventional. Have you known a pet with a similar neurotic streak? What kinds of quirks and tricks have your cats displayed?
Please share your cat stories below in the comment section and let's expose these furry sweethearts for what they are -- crazy cats! LOL Thanks for visiting!
Have a wonderful day!

My cat, Jack, has his quirks. Although he doens't have a toy hat or towel! His odd quirk is he likes to be spanked, yup, spanked. And pretty hard too. My husband thinks it's hilarious to whack him on the butt as hard as he can, if he stops Jack meows until Brian starts up again. He's also been known to knock his brush off the coffee table and bat it clear across the house until he finds someone to brush him.
On other days he'll jump up onto a table and literally climb onto your chest hanging on with all four paws like a koala.
Until we had a kid our cat provided hours of entertainment, now he's getting old and prefers sleeping to spanking and brush-hockey. But everyonce in a while the kitten in him will come out.
Cute post! I love a good quirky-cat story! -kate
Our cat (Brat) was lying upon the windowsill, above the sink. My Mother was listening to a self-hypnosis tape, in order to quit smoking. The cat, bless her soul, fell off the windowsill and into the dishpan. Needless to say, my Mom wasn't hypnotized; however, Brat was!
ps: You've got a great looking kitty there!
`x~William.
My kitty, Miss Cindi Lou Who's favorite cat toy is a little stuffed Christmas tree. She will carry it around and hide it, when I run across it during the course of the day I return it to a spot in the livingroom. She will hide it again.
Sometimes at night I can hear her "fussing at" her toy. I saw he doing this one time, she will have it at her feet and make a very strange meowing sound directed at the toy!
Great post, hope you had a really great holiday weekend.
Kate!! LOL!! Thank you so much for your quirky cat story!! Cat-Spanking -- sounds a bit kinky -- but that's a cat for ya. They are just so off the wall! LOL I love the name Jack. They just seem to have personalities that fit the little names we give them. [Someday I may write about Bertram, hubby's favorite cat.] I too love a good cat story and I appreciate yours so much! Thanks and have a wonderful day!! :D
William!! LOL, OMG, I nearly fell off my chair!! Your poor Brat -- she must have been so embarrassed!! Not to mention a little wet and soapy!! She must have been a real sweetheart and a good sport and quite a good subject for hypnosis. Cat-brains. An oxymoron? LOL thank you so much for sharing that today! [I hope your Mom found a way to quit smoking that was a bit safer for Brat! or did she take it up, too? so they could quit together, poor little girl!!] Thanks and have a wonderful day!! :D
SQ, your Miss Cindy Lou Who's game with her little Christmas tree sounds so sweet!! The feet and the meowing and the "fussing" sounds are just precious! It must be a lot of fun playing with her and moving that toy out to the middle of the living room after she'd gone and hidden it in a special place. Just too much. They are just such characters! Thank you so much for sharing her little quirks!!
We had a fun and busy weekend and sometimes I felt like I was in the middle of a war zone when whole streets went wild with those firecrackers and whatnots. I almost yelled "Over the top, boys!" cause it sounded like an artillery bombardment into the trenches!! But a little chilling out and it was ok and everyone had fun! It's much quieter tonight. Only a few sirens in the distance.
I hope you also had a fun Fourth!! It's hard getting back into the routine and I love the quiet now. And I'm glad the animals have settled down. Poor things all that noise!!
Thanks for posting and have a wonderful day!! :D
