In A Field A Silken Tent

Valley View II by Elissa Gore

The Silken Tent

She is as in a field a silken tent
At midday when the sunny summer breeze
Has dried the dew and all its ropes relent,
So that in guys it gently sways at ease,
And its supporting central cedar pole,
That is its pinnacle to heavenward
And signifies the sureness of the soul,
Seems to owe naught to any single cord,
But strictly held by none, is loosely bound
By countless silken ties of love and thought
To every thing on earth the compass round,
And only by one's going slightly taut
In the capriciousness of summer air
Is of the slightlest bondage made aware.

Kate!! I know, it is a *sigh* sort of picture. I love it -- in fact I have it hanging in the spare bedroom, as the focal point over the bed. The quilt is a patchwork design in the same colors of yellows, greens, and creams -- with just a hint of darks -- and it's just so restful and inviting. [They go well with the sunflower bouquet on the nightstand, too.] I am glad it contributed to the start of a lovely evening for you! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! :D

Loree!! I love the painting, too, and felt kind of lucky that the Frost poem seemed to go so well with it. I was not familiar with this poem, so it was fun to discover it and share. When I was in school we only studied one or two of his works and that was it. I think I would enjoy reading more and with the links, it should be easy -- and no excuses now for me! LOL Thanks a bunch for stopping by & sharing! :D
