Writers, your challenge is to write a story, poem, play, article, report, micro-blog -- something -- anything -- about this picture. You may write your piece to any length, as long as it doesn't exceed 50 words. The shorter the better, of course. If you want to write a Twitter length story, give it a whirl but don't exceed 140 characters.
Try your hand at micro/flash work and feel free to post as many tiny pieces as you'd like in the Comment section below. Your work is yours, you own the copyright -- we're just making a spot available for you to share your creativity with the Sunflower Ranch visitors. You can experiment here and tweet them or post them or even use them as seeds for longer, more involved work.
Let's have some fun and start the weekend with a new little activity to spark your imagination. May you be inspired to make your writing soar and produce some wonderful work! Check out last week's Writer's Challenge and add your interpretation of the photo there as well.
Your comments are always welcome, too!

Yokelville Daily Yabber: Police are questioning suspects in the Granny Goober Quilt Fraud now spreading via Twitter. Granny Goober knock-offs have been appearing in the bedrooms of residents with alarming bad taste. Granny implores you to study this picture and compare. Are you sleeping under the real thing? Call 800-GOO-BERZ
She studied the aged quilt, the ironwork of the bed frame and shuddered at the thought that this would be their first night together...alone.
Milli!! LOL Granny Goober!!! LOL too much!! You know, seriously, I bet there is a lot of trafficking in fraudulent quilts. Go to any hi-end store and look at the prices -- you know their cost of manufacture and shipping from Asia is less than a quarter of what they're asking. I mean really -- where is the Goober Mod Squad when you need them??? Oh, well, *sigh*...Thanks for your delightful story today!! :D
LM!!! I hope that shuddering is in delight rather than apprehension!! [Though I do get the feeling she is quite a bit less than ecstatic about it!!] So, what happens next? Um, er, ah, this is a family friendly page, so we'll skip that part...ahem and I'll just say thanks a bunch for a great bit of romantic intrigue today!! :D
The scent of cedar filled the cozy room. The bed looked so comfortable that I just had to sit and bounce on it. Bouncing on it made me feel like a kid for a moment.
It had been a very long day of hiking through the snow. My legs were wet, cold, and my muscles were throbbing in pain.
I knew that I should change my clothes and get into something dry, but I was too exhausted.
So I lay on the bed... and slowly...drifted to sleep.
Colleen!! Thank you so much for the wonderful little story!! Lots of great images there -- you made me feel as though I'd been out in the snow, too. Excellent! Thanks for sharing! :D
Sunflower, this has been my favorite so far of your writing challenges.
At first I looked at the picture and went "A bed? What the heck can you say about that?" But then it pulled something out of me that I had such fun writing, it was a hoot!
Coming back to see the other two stories today has been a delight. I loved them both.
What a great prompt! I look forward to your challenges as a nugget of fun in a busy week.
(((Hugs!)))
Milli!! I am so glad that this photo resonated with you and you could just let loose and have some fun!! I would like to have photos or drawings that would allow any style of response -- happy, sad, funny, serious, etc. It has been a great joy to see such terrific variety each week. This one struck your funny bone and others had a more serious response. But it's all good and every story, poem, tweet, or long piece for all the pix has been heartfelt and oh-so-creative! I'm glad you can stop by and have a bit of fun in a busy week!! I look forward to your next entry! Sending lots of hugs right back!
:D
