From Jessie's Garden

newly planted primrosesprimroses

“O fairest flower, no sooner blown but blasted,
Soft silken primrose fading timelessly.”

~John Milton
My friend Jessie planted a whole raised bed of primroses the other day to welcome spring, which is less than a month away. We're waiting impatiently for the weather to warm up, the days to lengthen and the plants to send forth their hopeful shoots. When I snapped the picture, it was a sunny and balmy day. What a change in just a few days. It's raining hard and rather miserable today -- NO pictures, though! Sorry! LOL But if you would like a larger version of the picture above for your personal/non commercial use, just click here and copy. Thanks for visiting!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I loved your quote. Compare ths with Sir Walter Elliot in Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'.

A hint of spring can be so renewing. Still too cold here for anything to be planted...dern it!

Fly!! I am terribly ignorant of "Persuasion," though I do know the basic plot. Could you cite the quote? Or if you mean the haughty disdain Eliot had for his daughters, then I see the fading primrose. The older daughter was spoiled but unmarried and therefore faded as she grew older, and the two younger ones were neglected as youngsters and faded from parental cruelty, but hopefully had happy lives away from him. He was definitely NOT a good parental role model! LOL Thanks for your comment! :D

SG!!! We actually have a sunny day with gorgeous billowing clouds and the scent of sweetness in the air. I heard geese this morning going North. I mowed the lawn last week and will do it again between periods of rain this week, as it's growing like crazy. This is a typical el Nino winter here -- very mild February. But March might not be any different -- sometimes we get stuck in a pattern. I don't mind. At least NO snow! :D
