"Deer" Friends

The deer above were photographed while on a casual trek through a friend's yard. He said these two showed up one morning about ten days ago and paused briefly for their pictures before jumping over the back fence. It looks like a full grown doe and a yearling. Talk about sweet! I like to see them like this, not munching on rosebushes, stepping into newly planted gardens, or leaping out in front of cars.

You can see the tail in the larger one, which would give them a positive identification as blacktail deer and not whitetail or mule deer. Check out the Northwest Trek website description of the blacktail deer. At any rate, they are such beautifully innocent creatures and always a joy to see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that "our" deer will return. But for now, I can enjoy these enchanting animals in someone else's garden. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Thanks for visiting today!

Do you know that before the French Revolution of 1789 those deer - or whichever deer it was in France - had the right to scoff all a peasant's crops.

Fly!! LOL those little rascals! That is very interesting! After the revolution, open season on the little scoundrels! And food on the table for those peasants, I hope!

Any news on your contribution to the US health care debate?

This is "drama week" in Congress with both sides saying they have enough votes. A terrible war of words. The majority of the citizens are firmly against it passing into law. If we could capture the hot air being wheezed about in Congress, we'd have enough for every man, woman, and child in the country to have their own hot air balloon. LOL

I just love deer, for many reasons. Not necessarily eating my plants though. They are lovely to watch when they visit though. :)

Thanks for your comment Ace! I agree, they are not fun when eating the roses! Ours are keeping a low profile these days. At least the shoots on the tender little flowers are able to grow! LOL
