Makes me realise again how glad I am to have my mother alive and independent at 95...just about to have a hip replacement operation to keep her mobile as her doctors reckon she had many more years in her! One good thing for the British National Health Service....despite its' many problems it keeps the bulk of the citizenry going!
Fly!! Thank you for your comment. You are indeed blessed to have your mother in your life -- she must be a wonderful lady and an inspiration to you! Bless her heart! Best wishes, too, for a complication-free hip replacement with many active years ahead!
My Mom died suddenly from a severe stroke. There was no time to say goodbye. It's been over 5 years and I still miss her terribly. I guess that just will never change.
That was dreadful, to lose your mother so suddenly. Of course you'll never stop missing her, nor should you...nothing to be ashamed of in honest tears.
Thanks, Fly. The whole shocking episode happened so fast. I had seen her earlier in the day of her stroke. We had coffee, joked around, made plans to get together again and I promised I'd phone her before bedtime to chat briefly as we always did. About an hour before I would have phoned, my Dad phoned me and said he couldn't wake her up from her nap... She never regained consciousness and was gone in three days. Everyone from the fire department and at the hospital did all they could to save her.
At least her time of suffering was short, compared to my Dad's long decline and death from cancer a few years later.
Hard to believe they're both gone -- surreal almost. I never would have thought it would have turned out this way.
